Master Carpenter
About Your Opportunity
Primarily responsible for building wooden structures according to sketches, blueprints, or
oral instructions. Knowledge of industry codes and review specifications to determine
dimensions of structures and ADA compliance specifications, wall ratings for fire codes,
door, and window details. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and
serve as active Foreman when necessary.
How You’ll Contribute:
• Erects, assembles, and installs framing (steel stud and wood stud)
• Installs wood and metal in-wall blocking/roof, window, and door blocking
• Anchors and braces fixed objects using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables,
planks, and timbers.
• Sets door frames (wood and metal)
• Installs doors (including all facets of door hardware)
• Installs interior and exterior trim.
• Performs other construction tasks i.e., Masonry and miscellaneous metals.
• Performs other construction activities necessary to complete project.
• Performs demolition work if necessary.
• Cabinet installation and prefinished millwork.
• Layout and installation of toilet accessories.
• Construct stairs railing, treads, and risers.
• Competent to do layout and establish benchmarks for work to be installed.
• Ability to problem solve and determine resolutions in a timely manner.
• Ability to complete material take off for purchases and schedule deliveries.
• Knowledge of job site safety rules and regulations (OSHA)
Other Functions:
• Interacts with other field employees, subcontractors as a crew leader
• Ability to read blueprints
• Strong organization and time management skills.
Qualifications
• Advanced skill level of Master Carpentry experience (5+years minimum)
• Minimum of 5-10 years of construction experience
• Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
• Valid driver’s licenses & transportation
• Required OSHA 10, OSHA 30 preferred
Machines/Tools/Equipment:
• Ability to handle hand tools and electric tools
• Able to move materials to do new work and demolition work.
• Team Member is expected to supply his/her own carpentry tools, a list of which is
provided by Wohlsen Construction Company
Working Conditions
Works both indoor and outdoor construction, with exposure to various weather
conditions and temperatures. Over time may be required and some work may involve
elevated heights, several stories above ground or work below ground. Out-Of-Town
work may also be required.
Physical Requirements
In a normal day, the employee must be able to walk 4-6 hours and stand for 7+ hours. In
a normal day, this position requires little to no sitting. In a normal day, the employee
must be able to drive 1-4 hours. Employee must be able to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
maximum; frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs. The employee must be able to use his/her
upper extremities for repetitive simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
In this position, employee continuously (67-100%) be able to bend at waist, squat the
knees, climb (including ladders), reach above shoulders, kneel, crawl, and/or work at
heights above 6 feet. Employee occasionally (0-33%) use feet (foot controls).
